The purpose of our site is to provide a source of information regarding Industrial Wind Turbines in West Lincoln in the Region of Niagara.  We simply ask that you educate yourself.  We are not against 'Green Energy'.  Industrial Wind Turbines are in fact industrial installations, and they should be sited as such, in the appropriate locations, with appropriate setbacks, with no impact on residential areas.

There are now two proposed projects for this area:

Project 1:  Vineland Power Inc. has retained IPC Energy to develop a wind energy project in the Township of West Lincoln in the Region of Niagara.  This project, if approved, would have a capacity of up to 10 megawatts (MW) with between 4 to 5 industrial wind turbines.
During a radio interview on 900 CHML, John Andrews, President of IPC Energy, announced that they will be proceeding with Phase II, which will be an additional 5 wind turbines.  The number and size of additional phases is unknown at this time.  Click here to read more about this project.

Project 2:  On February 24, 2011, the Ontario Power Authority announced the next list contracts offered under the Feed In Tarriff program (FIT).  A contract has been offered for a 230 MW project for Smithville and surrounding area.    The applicant is Niagara Region Wind Corporation, a partnership between Renewable Energy Business (REB) Ltd. and Daniels Property Acquisition Corporation.

The Toronto-based corporation states that this will be one of the largest wind power projects in Canada.  Early estimates indicate that there could be 115 Industrial Wind Turbines (or more) depending on the model selected for this project.

NRWC and IPC Optioned Properties

Several landowners in the area have optioned their properties with wind companies.  Landowners from Grassie to the 2nd Concession have also been approached.  This provides a strong indication that additional phases and additional wind turbines may be planned for this and surrounding areas.

Click here to see a map of properties that have signed up with Niagara Region Wind Corporation as of September, 2011.

Click here to see a map of properties that have signed up with IPC Energy as of April, 2010.  It is unknown how many other properties have optioned since that date.

NOTE:  The term 'receptors' on the map is the wind industry term for someone's home.
